Decommissioning Sakai

After many years of loyal service the Sakai platform has been retired.

DIT worked in close partnership with the Division of Learning and Teaching and the faculties throughout 2018 to progressively shut down and archive the system and materials – with the final power down in November/December.

In its 20 years of active use as a learning management platform, Sakai served the CSU community well. It underpinned Interact 1, Forums, Project Sites and Subject Outlines until it was ultimately superseded by updated tools and systems.

The decommissioning of Sakai acknowledges the shift to updated platforms while also contributing to the university’s sustainability agenda through an associated reduction in energy consumption. Gone but not forgotten – Sakai is survived by Interact 2 (Blackboard) and the recently released Subject Outline System.
