IT equipment donations – supporting local communities and sustainability

DIT is committed to ensuring that IT equipment does not end up in landfill. When equipment becomes obsolete it is assessed for suitability for donations, sold at public auction or disposed of via e-waste.

Networking equipment donated

The Infrastructure team recently received a letter of thanks from the Regional General Manager of TAFE NSW, South Region, for the donation of networking equipment to the Information Technology team at the Wagga Wagga campus. The equipment will be used in delivery to their Diploma and Advanced Diploma students, and will assist them with their students’ future projects.

Laptops donated

The Computer Shop provides donations of IT equipment to charities and not-for-profit organisations upon request. Between January and March this year the shop made the following donations:

  • Four laptops with carry bags and power adaptors to the university’s Equity Laptop Assistance scheme – making laptops available to qualifying students
  • Two laptops with carry bags and power adaptors to the Amaranth Foundation in Wagga Wagga – supporting Amaranth clients in accessing telehealth and telepsychiatry
