Banner v9 upgrade delivered

A team of specialists and subject matter experts from across DIT, DSA and Finance worked over the October Labour Day weekend to deliver a successful major upgrade to the Banner Student and Finance systems.

What have we achieved?

The Banner 9 upgrade provides an updated and modernised interface and removal of legacy technologies.

The upgrade removed a large number of customisations, which will simplify future upgrades. It enables us to maintain currency, vendor support and access to new capabilities. The business can now leverage an updated and modernised system to maximise efficiencies.

An Organisational Change Management (OCM) plan, based around the ADKAR framework, underpinned the project. Early engagement was a key component of the OCM plan. As well as a structured approach to assist people through adoption and utilisation.

Effective communication strategies meant that the right messages went to the right people at the right time. While consideration for training needs analysis and assessment of change impact ensured the training delivered was fit for purpose.

Where to next?

The project is now in the post-implementation phase. The focus is on a seamless transition to the operational teams that will provide ongoing system support.

The successful upgrade delivered significant outputs that drive business value and efficiencies. Thank you to all those involved in the project.
