Online Shop Phase 2

The Online Shop Phase 2 project is an extension of the platform already successfully implemented for student payments and clubs at Charles Sturt.

The aim is to implement additional web-based e-commerce payment portals across the university. The outcome will enable compliance and assist in the removal of manual payments, improving user experience.

What are we working on?

The first component of the project relates to upgrading the platform software to the latest version. We are introducing new features and benefits while also ensuring software compliance with the vendor, for maintenance and support.

A ‘discovery phase’ around the second component, Charlie’s Store is also underway. This includes Charles Sturt memorabilia, clothing, placement uniforms, academic dress, the staff catalogue, and alumni merchandise.

The aim is to incorporate Charles Sturt’s main retail and merchandise store within the e-commerce platform, offering buyers accessibility from mobile devices, a shopping cart and checkout experience, and new payment methods such as PayPal.

What are the benefits?

The benefits include:

  • Improved PCI compliance measures
  • Seamless and consistent shopping and payment experiences
  • Sales and marketing opportunities through promotions and online discounts
  • Improved auditing, reporting and processing productivity

Where to next?

Some other future areas of opportunity for Online Shop identified by the project are:

  • Staff uniforms
  • Printery
  • New clubs functionality
  • Student administration
  • Graduations
  • Events
  • Alumni / Advancement
